Cardano Settlement Layer (AKA Cardano SL) was created by IOHK working with the University of Athens, University of Edinburgh, and the University of Connecticut. It’s a Proof-of-Stake cryptocurrency based on Haskell’s implementation of the well-known white paper titled “Ouroboros: A Provably Secure Proof of Stake Blockchain Protocol”. This was authored by Aggelos Kiayias, Alexander Russell, Roman Oliynykov, and Bernardo David.
